Quick Answers

General

  • I can’t seem to break negative thought patterns.

There is a common saying, “You cannot keep doing the same thing over & over again and expect a different result.”

If you want to break your negative thought patterns, you need to change your environment, do something you have never done before.

Another thing that can help is to read a book of wisdom for self-development.

  • I don’t know my purpose.

If I don’t know what a phone is, then how will I know its purpose? Without knowing the purpose of a phone, I can just use it as a paperweight to hold down loose paper.

Similarly, if you don’t know who you are, you will never know what your purpose in life is. The goal of authentic yoga knowledge is to help you find out who you are, so you can realize what your purpose is.

  • What is Yoga?

Yoga means creating awareness of our real self through practice.

There are different limbs of yoga. Some of the popular ones are:

    1. Yoga postures to keep physically healthy & prepare the body for meditation.
    2. Breathwork to regulate the life force energy promoting balance & mental clarity.

Yoga knowledge provides wisdom to think for yourself about your life choices.

Meditation

  • I don’t have time to meditate, I am too busy.

If you were driving from Melbourne to Sydney and 2 hours into the drive, the car runs out of petrol. You tell your friends, I was too busy, I didn’t have time to go to the petrol station. What do you think your friends are going to say?

Regardless of how busy you are, it is required to make time to re-energize yourself, however you do it, is up to you. Otherwise, you will run out of gas.

  • I cannot focus.

You are not the only one, with so much going on around us, it is easy to be distracted and disturbed. The goal of meditation is not getting good at meditation but rather it’s about getting good at life.

When you meditate daily, it helps you make better decisions & choices to become good at life. Eventually as you practice, your mind will be less distracted.

  • Is it necessary to have meditation practice?

Juggling between work, relationships, finances, social media, social life, exercise and pursuing your passion is hard work – it is natural to feel exhausted & stressed.

As per Victorian population health survey:

“The proportion of adults who experienced high or very high levels of psychological distress significantly increased from 18.1% in 2019 to 23.4% in 2020.

Notably these numbers were higher in the younger age groups— with 35.0% of adults aged 18-24 years and 27.8% of adults aged 25-34 years reporting distress”

Meditation gives you an opportunity to slow down, de-stress and reconnect with yourself to think clearly.

  • How can I confirm the positive effects of meditation?

When you eat the correct food, 3 things happen simultaneously in the background - you feel nourished & energized, your hunger pangs go away and you feel satisfied.

Similarly when you have the correct meditation practice, 3 things are meant to happen simultaneously in the background - your stress and anxiety go away, your need for validation from others begins to reduce & you start experiencing inner satisfaction.

  • Meditation doesn’t work for me

There is scientific research proving benefits of meditation and medical practitioners are encouraging meditation to overcome stress & anxiety related health issues.

There are different types of meditation practices and if you think one of them is not working for you, you can try a different one.

Spirituality

  • What does it mean to be Spiritual?

Spiritual means to understand your non-material self, which is beyond the mind, body & senses. In yoga terms your non-material self is called the atma or the soul.

Spirituality means to leave the material purposes of this world, not the material world.

  • Who is self realized?

When you are self-realized, you give more importance to the needs of the soul and do things for the soul, than you do for your mind, body & senses.

  • What is the difference between Spirituality & Religion?

Spiritual means to understand the science of the soul and experience your non-material identity. Religion means to have a particular faith and rituals.

  • How does Spirituality help?

Having spiritual goals behind everything you do, harmonizes different aspects of your life - work, relationships, social life, health. Having that one purpose creates a perfect balance and energizes you to do more and achieve more.

Because you live in harmony with your real nature, it creates both internal & external peace.
